Latest News : Class win after a 12 month sabbatical
After nearly a years break from rallying, John O’Hagan was back behind the wheel of his trusty Volkswagen Golf GTi, along with Peter Corkish calling the notes, on only his second stage rally on the Black Horse Forest Stages Rally.
Saturday morning started cold and frosty, the weather was soon to change to warm sunshine.
John and Peters main aim for the day was to get the car to the finish without any problems or dramas. There was five entries in class C, which included Nigel Cannell, Steve Quine, Andy Leece, Robbie Sampson and of course John O’Hagan. The rally wouldn’t be the same if there wasn’t any drama, and there was plenty of that.
Andy Leece retired after SS7 with gearbox problems, Robbie Sampson had a big accident, but was later given the all clear after being checked over at hospital.
John and Peter were lying 19th overall before this happened and dropped six places to 24th overall.
Steve Quine finished third and Nigel Cannell battled his way to second.
John and Peter finished the rally 10th overall and 1st in class C. The pair also won the best novice award, as it was Peter’s first forest event.
The next event will be the Riverside Jurby Stages on the 20th June, where the pair will be back out again, hopefully bringing some silverware home afterwards.
John and Peter would like to thank sponsors Island I.T. Services, Rallypac.com and also new sponsors Trade Distribution for their support.
They would also like to thank the event organisers, marshals and timekeepers for their time running this top gravel stages event.
