Kingsmead Forest Rally - 1st July 2006
The Kingsmead Forest stages were held at the Conrhenny plantation and
followed the single venue event format.
We awoke to a dry sunny day, which left the stages with some damp patches
under the trees but very dusty everywhere else.
Our second rally, first forest event we struck problems on the very first
stage (first corner).
We broke an engine mount and the expansion tank worked its way loose,
which dropped onto the gear linkage, and left us with only second gear
for the first stage.
For
the second stage we had to wedge a piece of wood between the sump guard
and the sump to hold the engine and gearbox up and strapped the expansion
tank back on. For the rest of the stages we burst the exhaust and had
a puncture, it just wasn’t our rally. The remainder of the stages we took
it easy just to get a finish.
Our last stage was the quickest as we were eight quickest, shame we didn’t
do that from the start. We finished thirteenth and third in class C.
