Black Horse Finance Tarmac Stages Rally - 27th /28th October 2006

Friday night was cold, heavy rain showers day before, very damp and greasy in places.
Saturday was also cold, wet, very slippery and misty in places.
20 cars finished out of 40 starters, we finished 19th and came 2nd in class C. Another trophy for the cabinet.
Things didn’t start to well for us, On the first stage we crossed over the tram tracks from a down hill section, we were going to fast and ended up hitting the kerb on the other side of the road and damaging the steering.
For the rest of the eight stages that night, the tyre was rubbing against the inside wheel arch on the nearside of the car which was making a squealing noise and had a bad smell of burning rubber. The tyre didn’t last very long on that side so we had to change it every three stages as by this time the tyre was through to the wire.
After Friday nights stages we changed the bottom wishbone arm as it was damaged, but still the steering was not perfect. Saturday we just went as fast as we could and hoped we would get a finish as half of the field had gone out. The car still didn’t feel right but we finished with no dramas, but there was a lot of work to be done before the next rally.
